Where help is needed most, that’s where we aim to lend a hand!

Hello Özge, Hello Senol. It’s great that both of you found time today to share your experiences with the organization, especially regarding your child sponsorship. Özge, would you like to introduce yourself briefly?

Özge Tor Vural: I work at Medical Fly GmbH in patient coordination and got to know the organization and Pamela through my profession. Now, I support the association through child sponsorship.

How long have you been sponsoring a child?

Özge Tor Vural: I’ve been a child sponsor for two years now, and shortly after my decision, I was able to convince my husband and my sister to take on sponsorships as well. Together, my husband and I support two children. It was important for us to help children who needed our support the most. For this reason, Pamela assigned children to us who urgently needed help.

Senol, do you maintain contact with your sponsored children?

Senol Vural: Yes, we stay in touch with the children through the organization. Every time Pamela and her team are working on-site in Uganda, for example, we receive letters from the children, or Pamela sends us pictures.

Özge Tor Vural: This helps reduce the distance between us and our sponsored children.

Have you ever been to Uganda in person?

Özge Tor Vural: No, unfortunately not yet. I would love to be there for the next trip to be able to help directly on-site. Senol Vural: I believe that the money for our flights could be better invested, for example, in existing projects.

How did your family react when you told them about your child sponsorship?

Özge Tor Vural: I often heard that I don’t really know where my money is going. Initially, everyone was very skeptical, but ultimately, I was able to convince my husband and my sister of the organization and the type of support provided.

Has sponsorship changed anything in your lives?

Senol Vural: Sponsorship shows me that I can help many people with small amounts of money. For myself, these amounts often don’t seem large, but they can make a big difference for the children on-site.

Özge Tor Vural: I’ve also become more cautious with spending money. For example, I walk more and prefer to save money instead of paying for parking. Overall, I can say that sponsoring a child has changed my perspective on life. I appreciate my life much more now than before.

What do you particularly appreciate about Let Doctors Fly e.V.?

Senol Vural: That the money reaches exactly the purpose for which it was invested by us.

Özge Tor Vural: I completely agree with that. That’s why we are involved in addition to our child sponsorship, for example, by providing school supplies or sharing posts on Facebook to inform more people about the organization.

Senol Vural: Additionally, I appreciate that we are not overwhelmed with information material. We have subscribed to the newsletter and can also follow all new events via Facebook. The differences between sponsor parents and sponsored children could hardly be greater, but there is one thing in common! For two years, an invisible bond has connected them both.

Thank you, Özge, Thank you, Senol!
