Intimate surgery in Turkey – What is possible and what impact can it have on your life?

The intimate area is a sensitive topic for many people and is often taboo in public discussions. When issues or dissatisfaction arise in this area, it can be even more challenging for individuals to communicate or seek help.

This makes it even more important for us to approach intimate surgery openly and address any uncertainties or questions.

Intimate surgery, as an umbrella term, can encompass various procedures in the intimate area.

The most commonly performed procedures are labiaplasty and vaginoplasty.

Labiaplasty, also known as labial reduction, involves reducing the size of the inner labia. The reasons for labiaplasty are diverse. On one hand, it can be an aesthetic desire, while on the other hand, larger inner labia can cause functional impairments, leading to a desire for reduction.

It’s important to note that vulvas come in different shapes and colors, each being unique, and there’s no right or wrong appearance.

However, if a woman feels uncomfortable due to the appearance of the vulva and experiences limitations in her sex life, labial reduction can provide relief. Often, the aim is for the inner labia to be concealed within the outer labia, making only the outer labia visible externally. Any asymmetries between the labia can also be addressed through labial reduction. Functional impairments caused by larger inner labia may manifest, particularly with increased friction during certain sports activities like riding a bike or horse.

During labial reduction, excess tissue in the labial area is removed. If the outer labia aren’t pronounced enough to accommodate the inner labia, they can be augmented through fat injection. The procedure takes about 45 minutes and is performed under general anesthesia.

Vaginoplasty, or vaginal tightening, involves reducing the diameter of the vagina. The diameter of the vagina is genetically determined and can enlarge over the years. However, the idea that the diameter of the vagina enlarges due to frequent intercourse or different partners is a myth that needs to be debunked. The muscles and tissue of the vagina serve their purpose during far more invasive events, notably childbirth; therefore, a significant increase in diameter due to frequent intercourse is unlikely.

Multiple births, particularly spontaneous ones, can lead to tissue laxity. Additionally, genetically determined connective tissue weakness can contribute to tissue laxity. Another factor is the natural aging process, which can lead to vaginal and pelvic floor muscle laxity, reducing sexual sensitivity. Regardless of the cause for muscle and tissue laxity, the consequences for individuals can be distressing. It can impact their sex lives and even lead to incontinence. Vaginal tightening offers a permanent solution to alleviate these issues and improve quality of life.

Vaginal tightening is performed under general anesthesia and can be combined with labial correction. It’s important to note that family planning should be completed beforehand. Post-operative limitations are brief, and individuals can return to normal activities quickly.
